The project’s “Support for Association’s “Balta maja” Work in Strengthening Participatory Democracy in Latgale Region” (project’s contract No.: 2012.EEZ/DAP/MAC/152) implementation continues. The project was undertaken in 2013 and will continue till the end of the year 2015.The project’s implementation provides regular support to the association and strengthens the knowledge of its staff. The project is supported by the European Economic area financial mechanism 2009- 2014 period program’s “NGO fond” sub-programme “Programme of Support for the Activities of Non-governmental Organisations”.

The project’s “Support for the Activity of the Association „Balta Maja” to Strengthen the Participatory Democracy in Latgale Region” implementation actively continues for the third year. The end of the project is approaching; it will end at the end of 2015.

The project’s 2015 work plan aims to contribute to the association’s “Balta maja” operational sustainability and to increase staff capacity by means of regular and high-quality implementation of social services and participatory activities that are necessary to the local community. The association’s doors are open to the public every day and each local resident has access to social support services, and they can participate in different activities. There are interest groups and clubs, and the association organizes thematic and informative meetings with various specialists. On 13th November a lot of people attended the informative event on current events in politics, which was led by Māris Antonevičs, the manager of the Policy Department in the newspaper „Latvijas avize”.On the same day there was also held a seminar, which was led by Elita Keiša, the foundation’s „Martina fornds” director. The participants got a new motivation for their every day works.

On 25th November, just as every month, the meeting brought together the interests ofthe group “Gundegas”. This time the ladies raised up the issue “Help yourself”. In turn, su Joktherapy revealed how it is possible to soothe and healchronic diseases with the help of acupuncture and self-massage method. Each time the members of the club pay their attention to a different binding and topical theme, which allows gaining valuable knowledge and invaluable experienceto enrich themselves.

Next, on 26th November there was organized the club’s “Atrodi prieku sevi” meeting. This time a non-traditional medical specialist Viktorija Mihailova shared her experience and talked about the techniques of preserving lifevitality, the mind, the idea of purity” and homeopathy.

November was rich in new impressions, insights because the organization representatives participated in the experience exchange event in northern Latgale. There was acquired useful experience in the social field from Ludza social service and the association “Savi”. The organizations form Vilaka district “Palidzi sev”, “Vecaku klubins”, “Omites”, “Vide. Cilveks. Kultura” and others shared their experience. We are also very happy for Baltinava craftsmen who have got busy everyday life and big dreams. Therepresentatives of Karsavasassociation“Sapratne” showed a deep understanding and responsibility for the tasks entrusted to them. Then, in Salnava we admired the association’s “Kuzuls” ability tocooperateboth with young andolderlocals. The lessonslearned in the experience exchange events, the gained knowledge about the activities of NGOs in other districts, meetings with confederates and active, altruistic people will inspire and give strength to the association’s “Balta maja” employees for a long time.

It will also strengthen us while waiting for Christmas, which traditionally is thetime forcharity in the association. “Balta maja” wishes everyone a bright and blessed Advent!
