Training Is Held for the Minority NGO Leaders as well as for the Members
The implementation of the project “Association’s “Balta maja” Experience and Expertise in the Integration of Minorities in the Latvian Society” (project contract identification number: 2013.EEZ / PP/2 /MAC/035/050) continues. The project is supported by the European Economic area financial mechanism 2009 – 2014 period program’s “NGO Fond” sub-programme “NGO Project Programme”.
In February several times a week on a regular basis the participants of the Slavic Society „Uzori” in Livani „Uzdim” in Daugavils, „Joriks” in Rezekne and „Javir” in Jekabpils acquire the Latvian language in language training courses. Overall, 100 participants are learning in 4 groups. Trainings are held by educators who have experience in working with adult foreigners – Anna Ģēģere, Ina Kravale, Rainelda Muižniece, Annite Petkune. The learning process is supplemented a group work, in addition, individual tasks and tests are given to the participants.
In this month two of the planned eight trainings “Training for the Minority NGO Leaders” have already taken place. The leaders from all four of the participating NGOs will participate in these trainings. They will gain new knowledge that will be useful for functioning and developing of the organizations. The training will be led by NGO experts. In some of the trainings the association’s “Balta maja” employees will share their experience. The first training took place on 6 February; the theme was “Co-operation with Local and Government Authorities, other NGOs”. The training was led by Marika Rudzīte-Griķe from the association „Sava kabata”. Whereas on 21 February there was training “The Financial and Administrative Sustainability of the Association” where Inguna Baduna talked about the association’s “Balta maja” experience and answered the questions of the participants. The participants of the held trainings actively participated, were interested in the issues that were particularly topical for their organizations. The information about fundraising opportunities and project competitions was sought jointly.
The implementation of the project will actively continue. In addition to the Latvian language and minority NGO leader training, already two member organizations have also begun the integration of courses that will give its participants the knowledge of Latvia’s history, geography and traditions. The preparation for the project’s interactive event/ shows “I love Latvia the most because…” has started. In April and May they will be held in each participating city of the project i.e. in Rezekne, Jekabpils, Daugavpils and Livani.
The project implementers are pleased that all participants of the four involved NGOs are actively participating in training. This suggests that the acquired knowledge in the ongoing trainings of the Latvian language and NGO leader trainings is being highly evaluated and it will be put into practice. Carry on!
