The Project for Minority Association Leaders and Members Continues

 

Implementation of the project Association’s   “Balta maja” experience and expertise in the integration of minorities in Latvian society” (project contract identification number: 2013.EEZ / PP/2 /MAC /035/050) continues. The project is supported by the European Economic area financial mechanism 2009- 2014 period program’s “NVO fond” sub-program “NGO project programme”.

 

In March the Latvian language training courses were regularly continued in Livani, Rezekne, Daugavils and Jekabpils. Overall, 100 participants are learning in 4 groups which are led by experienced educators. The learning process is based on the acquisition of conversational language. In addition, topics that could be useful for the project participants in their daily life, work and different everyday situations are being discussed. The learning process is supplemented by a group work and individual tasks.

The participants with great interest also attend integration courses. In these courses the attention is paid to Latvian history, geography, laws and folk traditions. In the classes a variety of additional informational resources are used; the work is organized interactively and in groups.

In March the training „Accounting and Record Keeping of Associations” has also taken place. It was held on 20th March within the activity “Training of Minority NGO leaders”. This time, as the training venue was chosen Rezekne – the Culture House of Rezekne National Societies. The project participants were welcomed by the society’s “Joriks” representatives who told about their own activities and the work of other NGOs.The training was led by Elīna Jermacāne who is an experienced accountancy and record keeping specialist of the association “Balta maja”. Versatile and comprehensive information, which will help the organizations in accordance with legislation to arrange accounting, reporting and provide the records, was given. After the training the project manager Inguna Badune together with local project coordinators planned future activities of the project interactive event / shows “I love Latvia most because…” the first of which will take place in Daugavpils on 28th April.

Project implementers are pleased that minority NGOs that are involved in the project approves and uses the opportunities offered by the project. Let the pleasure to learn and energy to work continue to increase!
